  • New Book Claims Zodiac Killer Alive, Living in California

A new book claims that the infamous Zodiac killer is still alive and living in Northern California. "The Zodiac Killer Cover Up" was written by a former California Highway Patrol officer, Lyndon Lafferty, and adds another theory to the much-discussed serial killer case in Northern California. The Zodiac killer is blamed for at least five slayings in 1968 and 1969. There was never an arrest in the case. Three killings occurred in Vallejo. Teenagers David Farraday and Betty Lou Jensen were shot to death in December 1968. Darlene Ferrin, 22, was shot and killed seven months later at Blue Rock Springs Golf Club. Her companion, Michael Mageau, 19, survived. In "The Zodiac Killer Cover Up," Lafferty claims the killer is now a 91-year-old man living in Solano County. The book uses aliases and does not identify the alleged killer by name. Lafferty claims he and other lawmen investigated the suspect in the early 1970s but were stymied by "power brokers" in Solano County. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the book has stirred new debate among those who have followed the famous killings. The San Francisco police formally closed the case in 2004. The Zodiac killer got his name by taunting newspapers and the police with letters and puzzles. "The police shall never catch me, because I have been too clever for them," he wrote in a letter sent to the San Francisco Chronicle. "I enjoy needling the blue pigs," he wrote. Detectives thought they might have had a break two years ago, when a partial DNA profile was taken from envelopes containing the letters. The genetic evidence seemed to clear the only suspect ever named by police -- Arthur Leigh Allen of Vallejo. Allen, who was never charged, died of a heart attack in 1992.

  • Airlines to Charge Extra Fees for Window and Aisle Seats

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Airlines are charging for just about everything these days, and as we get close to the start of the summer travel season, get ready for new fees. The latest way airlines are looking to make extra money is by charging extra for aisle or window seats. Most major airlines are starting to tack on a fee of $25 or more each way for the privilege of sitting on the aisle or window. Alternately, some are setting aside the seats for frequent fliers. The change promises to make travel particularly difficult for families who want to sit together. The only choice in some cases may be to pay more for those window or aisle seats. Booking your travel more than two months in advance can help with seat availability. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the lowest average fares are at: Long Beach, Burbank, Ontario, John Wayne and then LAX.

  • Jim Parsons Has Never Been In The Closet

The New York Times wrote a story about Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory that set off a tabloid frenzy about him being gay. In the most nonchalant way, the Times included this line in their story: “Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship.” There’s a reason The Times didn’t make a big deal about it and use the headline: “Jim Parsons Announces ‘I’m Gay’” and there’s a reason RumorFix isn’t doing it either. It’s because Jim has never been in the closet — so he couldn’t come out.

We haven't had a thread about Nancy Kelly punching her womb in a while. Showed it to my husband for the first time this evening. He wondered how Kelly had managed to get an Oscar nomination, and seemed pretty shocked when I told him she'd won a Tony for the same part. But that doesn't surprise me. I can see those giant emotions and gestures playing well on the stage. He actually really liked Evelyn Varden playing the Penmark's land-lady. He thought someone should have made a film about her. Eileen Heckart's performance is broad as well, but works a little better, because of her emotional state. She did deserve the nomination she got. Children can be nasty, don't you think?

  • Should you refrigerate bread?

I woke up at a trick's house this morning famished so I went rummaging through his fridge and found bread inside. I've never seen anyone refrigerate bread before. It was just baffling. Wouldn't it get hard? I confronted him about it when he woke up and he said it keeps it fresh and keeps away mold. Is this true? He toasted some for me and it did taste okay with marmalade and farm-fresh butter. I couldn't tell the difference.
