I started a part time job working with teenage girls. I read some of their twitter feeds and they are mostly just constant self-hate and insecurity. I was alarmed about how often they say "I'm going to kill myself." I showed the supervisor but she said that's how girls are nowadays. What happened. I don't remember all this angst when I was a teen.

Dharun Ravi might be a jerk but if a jury convicts him because Tyler Clementi killed himself then the US justice system is seriously f**ked... If Tyler Clementi had not killed himself we would have never heard of Dharun Ravi. This is a witch hunt pure and simple and it sickens me... Bullying=Suicide? Personally I blame the parents and an entire culture that indulges a childproof world where pain and losing doesn't exist....I was bullied. It was awful. But I learned a lot. I learned how to cope. It taught me things: people are cruel, the world sucks. I grew up.

Meanwhile an alternate juror in the case has said he would have voted to acquit Ravi, convicted of spying on his gay roommate Tyler Clementi, who then committed suicide. The only thing Dharun Ravi was guilty of was being “stupid,” John Downey of Woodbridge Township, New Jersey, told The Record of Bergen County. “I don't think he ever had any intention of intimidating (Clementi),” he said. Ravi faces 10 years in prison and deportation to India when sentenced May 21. His attorneys are appealing.
