So, to save some funds after my partner and I lost our apartment in a fire, we are going to be moving in with a friend temporarily. It's a nice two-bedroom apartment. Now, the friend has asked us to split the rent 3 ways with him, as well as utilities. I am just wondering what you guys think--utilities I agree should be split three ways, but rent? We are going to be staying in a smaller guest room using our furnishings and using the guest bathroom. My friends have a spacious master bedroom with private bathroom and private patio. My partner and I were thinking more the lines of splitting it two ways, since my friend has more space then we do as we are using the smaller room and all of the friend's furnishings are in the jointly used areas (kitchen and living room). We lost most of our belongings and will start buying some new things and putting them in a storage facility, so nothing of ours will be in the joint living area. What do you think?

What do they think will pay for infrastructure, military (which oddly these types usually love), etc.? I don't get these folks. Check out this comment from a blog. [quote]How much money an individual earns is a completely private matter and should be of no concern to the government.
When I think of 1960s Americana, outside the big city, I think of Long Island. The America of the Wonder Years. The America where the "Friends" or "Seinfeld" parents were from. The towns that birthed some of our best writers, comics, film-makers, etc.\ \ So, what are these places?
George Michael is writing a song about his near-death experience in a Vienna hospital last year. Michael, 48, was diagnosed with severe pneumonia in November and treated in the Austrian capital where he was taken ill. He was forced to postpone his European tour and spent several weeks in hospital, describing his state as "touch and go". On Twitter overnight he revealed: "I've been a busy boy in the studio this week ... finally ready to write about what happened to me in Vienna ... and how grateful I am to be given another chance to live and breathe alongside you all in this wonderful world that we share." He added that he wanted to repay the "unending kindness" his fans had shown him with new music, and said he had begun to write the track which will be called White Light. Michael announced last month that he was back in good health and would re-start his postponed Symphonica tour in September.

I've got an extra couple of days and would like to go to somewhere in Ireland I've never been before. I've been to Dublin and Galway and the Aran Islands and Sligo--they were all lovely, but I loved Sligo the most because it was so picturesque. Is County Kerry nice? County Cork? Northern ireland? What's really pretty and shouldn't be missed?
Both were filmed in decline and networks chose to air the footage. Both looked so despondent, so out of it, so regrettably out of control. And people just stared, laughed, and watched. Why didn't anyone intervene?
Malawi president vows to legalise homosexuality Joyce Banda's promise to repeal homosexuality laws welcomed by gay rights campaigners across Africa David Smith in Johannesburg and Godfrey Mapondera in Blantyre; guardian.co.uk, Friday 18 May 2012 18.05 BST Malawi's new president has pledged to lift the country's ban on homosexuality, breaking ranks from much of Africa where such activity remains a crime. Joyce Banda, who came to power in April on the death of her predecessor, said in her first state of the nation address on Friday: "Indecency and unnatural acts laws shall be repealed." She described the measure as a matter of urgency. Elsewhere in the speech, Banda said her government wanted to normalise relations with "our traditional development partners who were uncomfortable with our bad laws". But repealing a law requires a parliamentary vote and, although Banda's party commands a majority, it is unclear how much support the move would have in this socially conservative nation. Malawi was widely condemned for the conviction and 14-year prison sentences given in 2010 to two men who were arrested after celebrating their engagement and were charged with unnatural acts and gross indecency. The president at the time, Bingu wa Mutharika, pardoned the couple on "humanitarian grounds only", while claiming they had "committed a crime against our culture, against our religion, and against our laws". Mutharika died from a heart attack in April. Banda, who was vice-president, stepped in to serve out his term, which ends in 2014. She has hit the ground running with a cabinet reshuffle, the sacking of the police chief and sweeping reforms to break from Mutharika's autocratic rule. Her audacious plan to legalise homosexuality was welcomed by the campaigner Gift Trapence, executive director of the Centre for the Development of People. "If that's what the president said, Malawi is going in the right direction in terms of human rights and meeting international human rights standards, and saying people are equal irrespective of sexual orientation," he said. Banda has previously demonstrated her liberal attitudes on the issue, he continued. "When she was vice-president she was invited to address a group of religious leaders and she spoke in favour of including LGBT communities in HIV interventions." Trapence said Banda's stand offers hope in a continent where homosexuality is criminalised in 37 countries. "It has come at the right time as the African Union is coming to attend a summit in Malawi. This sends a good message to the African heads of state who will attend." Trapence said the gay couple whose engagement caused a storm, Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza, were no longer together. Chimbalanga gained asylum in Cape Town, South Africa, while Monjeza is serving a three-year prison sentence for theft. "They will be happy at this decision," he added. "They will look back at how they suffered and were incarcerated and have a smile that at least they did something to influence the sodomy laws under which they were convicted." Wapona Kita, one of Malawi's leading human rights lawyers, said he welcomed the president's announcement. "She has done the right thing. The repeal of this bad law is long overdue." The law is "unconstitutional against international human rights standards", he added. Undule Mwakasungula, executive director of the Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation, said: "This is good news for us as we have been advocating for these sodomy laws to be reviewed or repealed as part of all the bad laws. Now that president Joyce Banda has indicated that the sodomy laws will be part of the laws to be repealed, this is very welcome development." In South Africa, the only African country with laws protecting gay rights, activist Mark Heywood said Banda would have international support. "I hope that she is persuasive enough in her own country," he told the Associated Press. "It's really important for other African countries other than South Africa to move in this direction. Symbolically, I think it is very important for Africa." A report this week from Kenya and Uganda by the watchdog Human Rights First found that African homosexuals who fled persecution in their countries were abducted, beaten and raped in the places where they sought asylum. It cited examples including two refugee women in Uganda who were abducted and raped because they had been assisting LGBT refugees, five cases of "corrective rape" of lesbian or transgender male refugees in Uganda and a gay Somali teenager in Kenya who was doused in petrol and would have been set on fire if not for the intervention of an older Somali woman. Human Rights First, a US-based non-governmental organisation, called on Hillary Clinton, the secretary of state, to help make sure that LGBT refugees gain access to safety and protection from violence.

If you kicked a narcissistic, manipulative, ungrateful leech out of your apartment and you know that he is going to move in with another single, middle-aged gay man, would you warn the next victim? I'm considering it for two reasons. I'd have appreciated a warning myself, and I'd like to screw the leech out of his next free place to live. But reason tells me to be grateful he's gone and let him fade away.

'Sherlock' star Benedict Cumberbach appreciates your dirty fan fiction and Tumblr art By Carina Adly MacKenzie May 2, 2012 9:14 PM ET Since the dawn of time -- or at least, of television -- where you find a cult fan following, you're pretty much guaranteed to find surprisingly smutty fan fiction. These days, fan fiction is no dirty secret -- authors like E.L. James and Cassandra Clare got their start as fanfic writers online, and they're now enjoying the spoils of multimillion dollar franchises. The actors and writers behind the source material have varied reactions to the fan fiction craze, but one actor who won't be petitioning to shut down your Tumblr porn is "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbach. With "Sherlock's" Season 2 about to begin on PBS, MTV sat down with the actor to ask him about the part of the fandom that enjoys portraying his character and Martin Freeman's in a sexual relationship. "I am startlingly aware of it," Cumberbatch says coyly. "I don't go seeking it, but Martin Freeman, who was an absolute Luddite on the first series, suddenly came back from New Zealand having done a little radio short drama called 'The Hobbit,' he came back and he had this beautiful Mac [computer] with him and said 'Hey, look at this Tumblr.' And I said, 'What? Tumblr? What?' He knows more about it than I do and he was showing me some of them. Some of it is really racy, un-viewable even on MTV. It's cool." He particularly enjoys your imaginative descriptions of his body parts, fanfic writers. "I suppose my bodily proportions are quite flattering. I'm ripped, doing something I wouldn't normally do with my body, or having done to it, involving Watson," he says. "So that's as far as I'll hit about that one, but it's all there on the Web if you want to find it. I was amazed at the level of artistry. People have spent hours doing it."
